Distractions are easy to come by, especially when it comes to worship. Jesus is not okay with those distractions! He doesn't want the focus shifted away from the whole reason that worshippers gather in the first place - to worship!
Join us as we dig into John 2:13-22, where Jesus cleanses the temple. When Jesus came to Jerusalem for the Passover, instead of finding reverent, thoughtful worship, he found a marketplace in his Father's house. He was not okay with that.
Jesus still is passionate about his Father's house, but are we? Do we eagerly await Sunday mornings? Do we have a passion for the gospel that is evident to those around us? Or has worship become a chore or obligation?
Jesus wants focused worship, not distractions. How do we do on that front? When we are present in the worship space, is our mind focused and present too? Or do we start to daydream? When we are present in the worship space, is our heart in it? Or are we there because your wife forced you to come?
Jesus doesn't want you there because you owe him something, he wants you there because he wants to bless you! There are amazing blessings that God gives in worship as His Word is read, preached, heard, and believed. There are amazing blessings that God gives in worship in Baptism and the Lord's Supper. He wants to bless you!
