Jesus has just made a beautiful promise - those in him will never be hungry or thirsty again. But the lingering question from Jesus' statement in verse 35 is this: How do you come to Jesus? How do you believe in Jesus?
Some believe that it takes a definitive act of your own will. Scripture rejects this again and again (1 Corinthians 2, John 6:44). So, how do we come to believe in Jesus? Jesus says that the Father needs to draw them.
The Father draws people to believe through the Spirit that proceeds from him. The Spirit, doing the work of the Father, brings people to faith - not through a miraculous show, but through simple means of grace - his Word and Sacraments. The Holy Spirit brings people to faith in Jesus, who gave his life to save the world.
Jesus accomplished this salvation by giving up his body on the cross, that those who believe in him (partake of him) will live eternally.
