In this episode for the Sustainability & You podcast we interview Tony Juniper, Chair of Natural England. Tony has a rich background as a campaigner, writer, advisor and environmentalist. He is a recognised authority on parrot conservation. We discuss the plight of biodiversity and fragility of our natural landscape, and what can be done to accelerate solutions to preserve our critical ecosystems. This includes embedding the concept of net biodiversity gain into decision making, stakeholder engagement, the value of natural capital and the role of finance in attracting capital to the right places.
Natural England is the government advisor for the natural environment in England, with a critical role to play in the conservation, enhancement and management of the natural environment. This includes the monitoring and protection of the country’s most valuable habitats such as sites of special scientific interest and natural nature reserves. Natural England will advise the government on environmental policy, planning and licensing.
