When I was the president of Yoga Alliance, I proposed that we give participating yoga teachers the initials RYT, meaning registered yoga teacher. But I explained that it comes from ṛta, the rightness, suchness, is-ness of things. As a yogi, as a meditator, you are diving into this Essence within, so that you embody the Light of Consciousness. You come to live your life by that inner gyroscope, so you always know which way is up.
