Awaken the Spirit
Eph. 5:
15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, (the god of Dionasis) for that is debauchery (a complete and utter loss, you wasted it), but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Debauchery - you wasted a $20 bill. If I burn it, can I have another one? NOPE! At some point the HS says… no more!
**The God of Dionasis - hedonism (sex partying) materialism and power.
Acts 5:32
32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
The verse you are looking for is Acts 5:32.
Given GK - Pour into - The act of and effect of obedience.
Obedience GK - (Aorist participle) submit to advice/ To hearken to one, …Did you hear that? You think you heard it… you hearken to it?
Here it is in the King James Version (KJV), which uses the specific phrasing you mentioned:
"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."
Context of the Verse
To understand the full meaning, it helps to know what was happening at that moment:
The pharisees were keeping the law, they had large portions of the OT memorized. They were the “Christians” of their day - but they lacked the power and witness of the Holy Spirit because they would not “hearken” to the Holy Spirits voice!
