When 21-year-old Deborah Fernandez-Cervera left her home to go for a run on April 30, 2002, she planned on returning home to watch a movie, but she didn’t know she would never return home again. Ten days later, her body would be found approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) from her home. It would take another ten years before critical evidence would be discovered and re-discovered in her case and be presented to the courts. Despite DNA evidence and substantial circumstantial evidence, her case would be closed for the second time in October of 2024, leaving Deborah’s case still unsolved.
