Guest: Dustin Janney, Pastor of Orlando Baptist Church (Orlando, FL)

Episode Description:

In this episode of The Fellowship Podcast, host Randy Harp sits down with Dustin Janney, senior pastor of Orlando Baptist Church in Orlando, FL.

Dustin shares about growing up in a pastor’s home and the unique spiritual heritage that shaped his early understanding of ministry. He reflects on the influence of two iconic grandfathers, Al Janney, former president of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International and a longtime advocate for Christian education, and Curtis Hutson, the well-known editor of The Sword of the Lord. Their legacy of leadership, conviction, and gospel proclamation played a significant role in forming his perspective on ministry and the importance of faithfully serving the local church.

He also talks about his educational journey, attending both Baptist Bible College and Boston Baptist College. During his final year at Boston Baptist College, he maintained a demanding schedule that included flying from Boston to Orlando each week to serve as worship pastor at his home church, Orlando Baptist Church. That season not only strengthened his commitment to ministry but also deepened his appreciation for the local church that had invested in him from a young age.

Dustin reflects on his ministry journey through staff roles at two different churches before eventually returning to the church where he grew up, the very church where his father had served as pastor. Today he leads that congregation, carrying forward a legacy of faithful leadership while seeking to shepherd the church into the future.

Throughout the conversation, Dustin shares about two areas that are especially close to his heart, missions and prayer. He speaks about the importance of cultivating a church culture that prioritizes global evangelism while remaining deeply dependent on the Lord through prayer. He also discusses a new ministry opportunity the Lord has opened for him to serve inside the Florida prison system, offering hope, discipleship, and the message of the gospel to men whose lives are in need of transformation.

Whether you’re a pastor, missionary, ministry leader, or simply passionate about fulfilling the Great Commission, this conversation will encourage you that God can and will use anyone.
