Alcoholics and Their Intentions
The Big Book shows us something uncomfortable but true—our intentions were often good… but our actions didn’t line up.
We meant to stop.
We meant to do better.
We meant not to hurt people.
But once alcohol entered the picture, something changed.
The obsession would take over.
The promises would disappear.
And we’d find ourselves doing the very things we said we wouldn’t do.
That’s the difference between intention and power.
Because for the alcoholic, it’s not a matter of wanting to stop—it’s the inability to do so on our own.
The Big Book makes it clear: self-knowledge and good intentions aren’t enough.
Something deeper has to change.
That’s what we’re getting into today.
Trudging Together.
No one trudges alone. 🙏
