As disciples of Jesus, we have received lavishly from the hands of a gracious God. When we offer our tithes and our gifts at the altar, our generosity participates in the generosity of God – and safeguards our hearts against the temptation toward the idolatry of seeking to secure our lives through wealth and other material means.
