Fruit of the Spirit - Week 8
Most of the characteristics included in the fruit of the spirit are virtues most of us know we could use more of, but there's one on the list that we might not want to be labeled with. Gentleness is often associated with weakness or fragility - which is nearly the opposite of what it means in the Bible! So what does it mean to be a person who is gentle according to God? This sermon helps us see gentleness as power operating under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
About this series:
If you were going to describe Jesus' personality, the list known as the fruit of the spirit would be a good place to start. Stuff like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are virtues most of us want, and yet if we're honest we often fall short of. If we want to look more like Jesus, we need to rely on the same source of power that Jesus did - the Holy Spirit. This series is an invitation to look at what kind of people God is helping us to become, to look at the fruit we were made to produce when we live in step with God's Spirit.
