Fruit of the Spirit - Week 9

Self control is something that most of us want the results of more than we want to actually be self-controlled. We want physical health without the discipline of diet & exercise. We want the full savings account without having to cut back on our spending. We want the results more than the fruit. God wants us to experience self-control for even greater reasons than our physical or financial health. In this sermon we dive into what it means to practice self-control as a Christian, and how God understands our struggle and has equipped us for His mission.

About this series: If you were going to describe Jesus' personality, the list known as the fruit of the spirit would be a good place to start. Stuff like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are virtues most of us want, and yet if we're honest we often fall short of. If we want to look more like Jesus, we need to rely on the same source of power that Jesus did - the Holy Spirit. This series is an invitation to look at what kind of people God is helping us to become, to look at the fruit we were made to produce when we live in step with God's Spirit.
