Description

Audio of the 1947 opinion of the Court in Adamson v California

The question before the Supreme Court of the United States was whether a defendant's Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination applied to state courts through the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

The Court found that it did not - and it would not apply to the states until 1964 in Malloy v. Hogan.
