Today's episode of The Write Team Daily returns to September 9, 1944, and the occupied Netherlands, where 23-year-old Dutch resistance fighter Jaap Musch paid the ultimate price for protecting Jewish children from the Nazis.
Musch helped hide children from deportation, arranging false papers, safe houses, and secret movements while risking his own life. After his arrest, Nazi authorities tortured and interrogated him in an attempt to uncover resistance networks and the locations of Jewish children in hiding. He refused to betray them. On September 9, 1944, Musch was executed by firing squad—a young man whose courage helped others survive.
Then, discover the arrival of early steam-engine technology in the American colonies, the emergence of the name “United States of America,” California becoming the 31st state, Elvis Presley's historic appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, and the assassination of Afghan resistance leader Ahmad Shah Massoud just two days before September 11, 2001.
Plus, revisit the controversial 1972 USA-Soviet Union Olympic basketball gold-medal game, celebrate comedian and actor Adam Sandler's 60th birthday, remember the unforgettable life and voice of James Earl Jones, and continue our “6:7” devotional journey with 2 Samuel 6:7 and a powerful reminder of the holiness of God.
