Description

It’s Week 8 of the College Football season. AJ and Crappy are off on Fall Break, but as we all know, there are no breaks in college football. So Carla is here holding down the fort and attempting to keep her emotions in check after an eventful weekend in Not-So-Happy Valley. Joining her as guest co-host is Dylan Simmons, former anchor and now graduate assistant with MTN Sports and Blue Raider Extra Point.

Dylan and Carla discuss Indiana’s signature win at Autzen over the Ducks, the chaos that was Red River, and all of the happenings at Penn State. (Yes, Carla goes off on a monologue. Enjoy, friends.)

Then, despite being lost somewhere in the mountains, AJ has definitely not lost the plot, sending back an overflowing basket of games in this week’s #GroupOfFiveAfterDark report, featuring matchups that are neither G5 nor After Dark, including North Carolina at Cal (10:30 ET Friday, ESPN), UConn at Boston College (Noon ET, ACCN), and Florida State at Stanford (10:30 ET, ESPN). He also heaps up a big serving of the Big 12 Buffet. And good news! Hawaii’s playing in prime time. But you may want to caffeinate a bit anyway. (More on that in a moment.)

Then, we’re on to the rest of the slate.

Louisville at No. 2 Miami (7 ET Friday, ESPN): Are the Cards the last true test of the regular season for Miami? Perhaps. What we do know is that this game is insane every year. Put it on your TV Friday night.

Washington at Michigan (Big Nude, FOX): The Team Up North didn’t look great out West last weekend in the Coliseum. Also, why isn’t Washington ranked?

No. 10 LSU at No. 17 Vanderbilt (Noon ET, ABC): Can Diego and the Dores get back on track? Will Brian Kelly turn purple? Carla gets to see this game in person. Expect a full report next week.

No. 5 Ole Miss at No. 9 Georgia (3:30 ET, ABC): These two teams played absolutely chaotic games last weekend … which means that this game has a high potential of being ridiculous. Get your eyeballs on this one.

No. 11 Tennessee at No. 6 Alabama (7:30 ET, ABC): Yes, friends, we hate to see it, but Bama is fully back. Can the Vols get it done at Bryant Denny? That’s a really tough ask.

No. 20 USC at No. 13 Notre Dame (7:30 ET, NBC): The Irish really need a signature win to bolster their playoff resume. Enter a freshly ranked USC team that knocked off Michigan last week. The intrigue factor here is very high.

No. 23 Utah at No. 15 BYU (8 ET, FOX): This game is always an absolute rock fight, and this year should be no exception. While BYU escaped Arizona last weekend, Utah obliterated Arizona State. (The Big 12 Buffet is buffeting again, kids.) And trust us: Utah remembers 22-21 last year. Do the Utes get revenge? Caffeinate if necessary so you don’t miss this one.

Other games worth noting in our honorable mentions:

You can catch Blue Raider Extra Point live from the Grove in Murfreesboro and all of the student broadcasts on the MTN Sports YouTube channel. (Hint: You may want to pay attention to the live broadcast on November 8. You may recognize the celebrity guest picker.)

Thanks again to Dylan for joining us, and thank you all for all you do for this show. Enjoy the football this weekend, and we’ll see you back here with (hopefully!) a full team back in action on the Carla and Crappy Show. Cheers, yinz and y’all.
