"Their foolish heart was darkened." To be darkened means to be deprived of light, or to be made ignorant. Light and love go together. A darkened heart does not love, and simply does not care.. The ungodly who claim to be motivated by love and compassion are not telling the truth. "He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love." A darkened heart is under the control and influence of spirits of devils and has become a stronghold of Satan.
