Luke goes on to tell us about the aftermath of the council. He makes a variety of points, which boil down to "Councils are good for the church and solve a lot of issues, but they don't solve everything." That is, the reign of Christ is not something that comes about exclusively by means of a council. And Luke even emphasizes that on the major issues — circumcision and unity — Jewish Christians can and maybe should continue to be circumcised, and that unity on the biggest issues does not prevent disagreements on smaller issues. The council neither fixed everything nor banned circumcision. Those things are important to know, along with the reality that the council was authoritative but was not exactly a panacea.
