Paul and Barnabas announced a turn to the Gentiles at the end of the last chapter. Now, in the remainder of their first missionary journey, that turn is exemplified as they minister to Gentiles in Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. We see some important theological lessons from this ministry. We see the certainty of the Kingdom as the gospel triumphs against fierce opposition. But we also see that the gospel generates opposition and suffering is the normal lot of those who proclaim the truth. Nonetheless, the gospel remains true, and it corrects pagan worship and makes many disciples.
