Mandy: Well, yesterday I was in a meeting, and my colleague presented some data. But I noticed a small mistake in his numbers. I wanted to tell him, but I didn't want to embarrass him in front of everyone.

Mandy: I didn't know how to say it nicely. "Hey, you are wrong" sounds too aggressive.

Patrick: That is a very common dilemma. You need a phrase that is helpful, not critical. The perfect phrasal verb for this is: Point out. You wanted to point out a mistake.

Mandy: Point out. Like using my finger to point?
Mandy: Point out。就像用手指去指吗？
Patrick: Exactly. Imagine you are looking at a map with someone. They are lost. You use your finger to "point out" the correct path.

Patrick: You are not attacking them; you are directing their attention to something important they might have missed.

Mandy: Aww, thank you! So it is neutral. It just means "look at this." Are there other ways to say this in business?

Patrick: If you want to make something seem very important, you can use: Highlight. "I want to highlight this issue."
