In this episode I speak with author of "The Official Depression Relief Playbook" Zack Rutledge. Zack is a physical trainer, nutritionist, and now going back to school for his masters to become a certified Psychotherapist. Zack takes us into his history of depression and his journey coming out of it. He tells us that there is no "silver bullet" to beat depression and anxiety but explains the small steps that can be taken to overcome these ailments.
Zack tells us of the routines he introduced into his life that helped him gain stability and motivation. We talk about the importance of goal setting and also how failing to hit a goal can cause you to fall back into a depression. We talk about the importance of learning to not beat yourself up all the time. He explains how people with depression need to practice forgiveness for themselves and others.
Zack shares how finding the right therapist can be super helpful. We talk about the importance of a good mental diet, and staying away from angry ideologies that are all over the internet. Zack also explains “box breathing” and its benefits. Zack talks about the science and benefits of visualization.
