This is gonna be a long description, bear with us: Also, Trigger Warning: We cover sexual assault as a topic, if you're listening and think it may trigger any unwanted PTSD symptoms or anything along that vein. Thanks for tuning in, but please turn the episode off and be healthy <3So! For this episode we have the lovelies Devan Penegar and Camille Dalke. The creative forces behind the Documentary Frayed Fabric, an interview based documentary aiming to let sexual assault survivors talk about their assault and trauma. Devan got the idea for the film after realizing that opening up about his experience was amazingly cathartic for him. So he's encouraging other people with similar experiences to do the same. I admire their need for a nuanced conversation about a complicated topic and the lengths they've gone to start it. It was a brilliant show to record and probably one of the best conversations we've had on the show. Now it's time for some Links!Their Gofund me page: https://www.gofundme.com/2sbk3sq4 They're asking for 3,000 dollars and that may seem like a lot but they're a third of the way there and they've gotten there with small donations. Anything you can give helps and gets them closer to their goal. We're not gonna Hog all the interviews, here's an article Creative Loafing Charlotte wrote about them and the project: http://clclt.com/charlotte/sexual-assault-survivor-attempts-to-help-others-like-him-through-film/Content?oid=3803806Throughout the episode you'll hear us reference an Essay. This is a link to that essay: https://devantpenegar.wordpress.com/2016/01/21/i-dream-of-goats/It's honestly beautifully written and the reason Devan was put on my radar to begin with. I listened to him read this essay at an UNC Charlotte event about sexual assault and what effect it's had on the people that have gone through this trauma. It's a brilliant essay. That's it! Thank you guys so much for listening and thanks again to Devan and Camille for coming in and having a great conversation with us.
