Description

Day 13 of the This Is Our Everest Advent calendar looks at the world of home computing in December 1985 with the BBC Micro Live Christmas Special. With the eight-year age gap between Ian and Edward there's plenty of opportunities for some generational blindspots and your heroes gleefully walk right into them. There's the almost inevitable mention of the imminent robot uprising that defined the 1980s, hand-in-hand with its perky apocalyptic chum, the 1984 film Threads.

Firebrand socialist rabble rouser Ian King speaks out passionately in support of the Drummers' Union and admits to being an accessory after the fact in a St Albans computer game grift, all in an episode rightly dominated by the worst text-to-speech program ever written. Tomorrow morning, it's the return of a repeat offender. The Les Dennis Laughter Show. We had to watch it. You should too. Just don't expect to laugh very much.

There’s a bunch of different ways in which you can subscribe to the 200% podcast. You can do so through Spotify, which you can find right here, whilst the podcast RSS feed is here and you can subscribe through Itunes here.

And finally, a humble request. These podcasts take a lot of effort to write, record and release, and we would be extremely grateful for your financial support, in whatever way you can manage.
