I am joined today by my baby sister, Cristina Tapia, or more often known as Dr. Cristina Tapia. I have always been in awe of Cristina’s inquisitive nature, her creativity, and her dedication to following her dreams. Cristina’s decision to pursue medicine is rooted in her unwavering sense of responsibility that she has for her community. I wanted her to be here with us to tell us her unique pathway to becoming a doctor because not all paths look the same.
Cristina’s passion to serve vulnerable communities is inspiring, especially during a global pandemic. We talk about her a-ha moment that led to her pursuing a career in medicine, what she wishes she knew as a first-generation student, and her incredible projects within the community.
