Description

Listen in as Germaine Flood chats with Pam Confer, an award-winning, bilingual professional singer, songwriter, speaker and public relations consultant, about “Mississippi Beautiful Day”, a day that is recognized on May 10th in the state. She also chats with MPB employees, Joel Povolni, Clarence Robson, Felicia Davis and Millard O'Baner II, about their Mississippi history and what makes the state beautiful to them. “Mississippi Beautiful Day” was established to give all Mississippians a day to celebrate the state’s rich and complicated history, and bond in a special, collective love for all that the state has to offer. Mississippi’s landscape is vastly different throughout, yet it is welcoming, diverse, charming, and resilient. Mississippi is a launching pad for culture and a forever home for creatives. As the complementing song indicates, Mississippi is “Beautiful." “Mississippi Beautiful Day” is a statewide holiday that was established by Governor Phil Bryant in 2019 to celebrate all things beautiful about the 82 counties of Mississippi— from the culinary arts, to music, to personalities, and so much more.
