David Wingo is a composer for film and television, based in Los Angeles. He has worked on films such as Mud, Brigsby Bear, Prince Avalanche, All the Real Girls and Take Shelter as well as television shows such as Barry and Kidding.
We talk leaving Austin, television, writing without picture, the main theme, working with Jeff Nichols, Heaven’s Gate , dealing with difficult subject matter, “The Report”, establishing ideas, faking an orchestra, surprising yourself, “Take Shelter”, writing around images, collaborating with David Gordon Green, the learning curve and the last lesson he learned which impacted the way he thinks about music.
