NND is joined by Dr. Keetie Roelen, Senior Research Fellow in Poverty and Social Action and Deputy Director at the Centre for the Study of Global Development (CSDG) at The Open University, author of The Empathy Fix: Why Poverty Persists and How To Change It and founder and host of the podcast Poverty Unpacked, who explores the impact of ‘in-work poverty’ (particularly on part-time workers, the self-employed, the differently-abled and vulnerable people), its practical implications and most importantly, what we can do about it, as we ask: is work really a main route out of poverty and what actually constitutes ‘work’?
