Emerging markets and developing countries are facing a dual challenge. These countries are particularly vulnerable to climate change because they lack the financial power to deal with climate change. At the same time, they also need a dependable and affordable energy supply to stimulate further socio-economic development. Up until 2030, the strongest growth in power demand is expected to come from non-OECD countries, due to population growth, economic development, and current electricity deficit.
