It has been very difficult to secure an interview with an active on-duty officer to discuss the current state of affairs of policing in America. I can understand and respect the reasons for that and am very thankful that Tommy came on with me to discuss outside perception, internal morale, why he became an officer, the difficulties and successes he has in the role and some reforms he sees improving the state of policing moving forward. Discourse is important. Painting everyone with a broad-stroke brush is dangerous and unproductive when trying to affect change.
