I may well have set up this podcast series, just to get an hour with my next guest! I jest of course but my path has crossed with Niall Breslin aka Bressie many times over the years and in TV and radio land you often only get 8-12 minutes, which is an overview on a topic and he has so much say about as a mental health advocate and has such a wealth of experience behind him since he released his book about this own struggles My Mate Jeffrey in 2015. Since then he has co founded a charity Lust for Life, completed a Masters in Mindfulness, helped bring about the change in mental health approaches in the schools curriculum, published several children’s books based on the language important around dealing with difficult emotions, he has a meditation podcast Wake Up / Wind Down Well series as well as the award winning Where is my Mind on Spotify. The list goes on and he runs a recording studio and fronts The Blizzards, it's an impressive amount of work but motivated by personal experience he began on this road and not only does he talk the talk, he literally walks the walk having just ran an ultra marathon the week we recorded this to raise funds for his charity. When he has been a guest on my radio show I often have to be prised away by my producer as I siphon as much as I can from Bressie, so to sit down with him like this was fantastic. We talk about his journey, how we can affect real change and what mindfulness really is.
There is much to learn from this charismatic giant, I hope you enjoy.
