Description

Alexis McGill Johnson is the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. She's dedicated her life to championing reproductive freedom, equity in health care, and racial and social justice. She co-founded the Perception Institute, which uses mind science research about race, gender, and other identities to find ways to reduce bias and discrimination.

Jennifer invites Alexis on the show to discuss reproductive rights: the recent spike in restrictive abortion bills across the country, how politicians are blatantly using these policies to challenge the very popular Roe v. Wade, and why men's "status anxiety" could be at the root of some of these efforts. But the conversation maintains its focus on our implicit prejudices when it comes to gender and race: how we learn stereotypes before the age of 10 and how we were taught to practice our sense of fairness in unfair ways. Plus, Alexis shares her struggles with invisible labor in the pandemic and how we can fix what's been broken for women during this time.
