Description

In January 2023, the Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships for both Men and Women were held in Canberra in the ACT. This episode of Out on the Paddock captures the sounds and the action of that Carnival as well as live interviews with several of the players - Calum How from Newman, Holly Pearce of Mt Barker and Tim Hutchison from Bunbury, who were there representing the WA Country XI Mens and Womens teams. Each of these players give incredible insights into why representing the WA Country XI means so much to them and how the Australian Country Cricket Championships, very much fulfil their Cricketing careers. We also hear from WA Country Cricket Area Manager Steve Philippe, who outlines the process for how, both Men and Women in WA Regional Cricket, can get the opportunity to play for the WA Country XI as well as explaining the sacrifices that many of the current players have had to make, to get to this highest of honours in WA Country Cricket. Sadly, some of the audio in this episode is at times a bit distorted due to some strong winds and severe weather, however, it is only on a few occasions during the early interviews and we believe, it is well worth hanging in there in this episode to get the full experience of getting "Inside the Australian Country Cricket Championships".
