Description

On the show today we have squash royalty in the form of Raneem El Weliley

Some career highlights including winning the World Junior Open twice as well as the reaching the world number 1 position and also getting a World Championship Title in the bag.

She won 24 PSA titles and was on the pro tour for an incredible 18 years!

She was the first Egyptian athlete to reach world no 1 in any sport.

She is also the wife of Tarek Momen who also won a World Championship Title in his career so no pressure on their young lad Shahir in the years to come!

We had such a fun chat and she really opened up about all aspects of her life and career and some real nuggets of gold sitting in what she reflected on.

In the show we discuss:

Parents and the pivotal role they play in a young athletes development both positive and negative.

How that at the end of the day it was all driven by fun and a deep rooted love for the sport, especially when the lows were there and in dark times.

Nerves and how best to reframe them and handle them positively.

How she prepares herself physically and mentally to access her flow state.

Handling pressure and expectations.

Dealing with bad losses.

How to focus the mind when things are going wrong within the match.

Reflecting on the drive that lead her to win the World Open title.

Plus many other interesting and fascinating subjects around the mind and getting the best out of ourselves.

So please welcome Raneem El Welily.
