Karen Joynes is lobbying for a change in Australia balloon release laws in Australia. Currently it is illegal to release helium balloons in Victoria but New South Wales has stopped short of an outright ban. The release of helium balloons is a form of littering that kills wildlife. The general public is mostly unaware of this problem.
