Sports science in horse racing is an exciting and emerging field. With more and more of Australia's top trainers investing in heart rate trackers and data analysts, horse training is modernising and beginning to embrace sports science. This week we sit down with Romy Borrione who has a Masters in Equine Science and Business, she works as a Performance and Data Analyst in the racing industry. In our interview, she describes how recording and analysing track work data can help give trainers a competitive edge, as well as improve the management of a horses racing career. This is a field in its infancy, but one that is incredibly exciting and with the potential to take training to the next level of professionalism.
After our chat with Romy, we also preview this weekends Group One Turnbull Stakes at Flemington!
