Silvana Mariel Munoz believes we are in this world to leave a legacy. The byproduct of your life could be economic, philanthropic, behavioral, inspirational, or a continuation of your heritage. Silvana references the Arab proverb that it needs to be “Good for Me, Good for You, Good for Everyone”. In her words, Ms. Munoz states: “Everyone has a story to go beyond and share to the world, everyone has a purpose and mission that gives sense to life, everyone has a soul message for others to hear as a gift, so … everyone has a legacy to leave, even while we are still in this world… not just after our death.” Whereas an inheritance is more about the tangibles of economic assets, properties, business and patrimonial wealth, she states that a legacy is more about the intangibles of reputation, the respect of a family name, skills, talents, relationships and trust, as well as how and what resources we use to invest.Sometimes a recipient or beneficiary can feel their legacy to be the karma of heavy luggage being placed on their shoulders; yet, there may be a hidden legacy that the next generations, especially with family businesses, need to discover. In the words of “legados … dejando huellas”, Silvana asks ‘how can your life’s footprints make you personally happy and create win/win solutions for others’? For Ms. Munoz, she thinks of her legacy as a contribution and an intentional gift with impact. The time she dedicated to others to craft a customized gift is the essence of her “legados dejando huellas” with all of her professional and personal activities.Silvana plans to live her legacy coherently in the reflection of the words she chooses and in the details of her days. As an advisor to family businesses, she also hopes to encourage the successors to go beyond their own frontiers and their own minds. 2:47 Understanding the distinctions around legacies9:55 Working on our own legacy13:20 Being devoted to our legacies ... a gift of time15:47 Legados Dejuando Huellas 18:44 A legacy ... on the skin24:04 Every legacy is a recipe & a paradigm25:11 The way of thinking, being & doing is a legacy, too28:50 When to neutralize (as a remedy)31:25 Feeling our legacy in a deeper way (economic, business, etc)36:30 The 4 legs of the table: living the words39:50 Collaborating with universities, family offices, congresses, conferences, etc.Silvana is the Founder, Director & CEO of Family Business Global Movement (FBGM) as well as multicultural Executive Family Business Coach/Mentor.
