The stories we tell ourselves are shaped/moulded/guided/framed by our lived experience. But our lived experience is about as subjective as it gets and this means that these stories are endlessly malleable. This can cause havoc regarding 'knowing yourself' because if we can endlessly reframe our lives you'd have to ask can there be any objective truth regarding our past?Maybe there isn't, but just because you can endlessly reframe things, this doesn't mean that you should. However, it also doesn't mean that you should never reframe anything. The objective should be balance. Enough change that it makes a difference but not so much that your just bending reality to meet your needs/goals/desires.
