Description

Known as Perth's Premiere Asexual Comedian, Nicola Macri started in stand-up, presenting 'You're Welcome'- a life advice show that encouraged audience members to take notes for a quiz at the end- at the Perth International Comedy Festival.

She then branched out into wigs, props and audience participation to make good use of her film degree with the breakout hit 'The Hilary Duff Film Re-Enactment Festival', which has won awards and delighted millennials all around the country.

In 2020 she produced 'Drag and Drag: Good Art, Bad Men', a variety show dealing with separating art from the artist. Her cerebral and warm-hearted style is on display in her asexuality-focused stand-up show 'Single Entendre', which played to acclaim in Perth and Adelaide and will be her debut Edinburgh Fringe show this year.

Nicola also appears with her sisters as part of the cabaret troupe Kiara With a K, and can often be found pointing a camera at burlesque performers, but only, she would like to clarify, at their request.

Although not the focus of this episode, we briefly mention sexual trauma as part of Nicola's story. Please take care when listening.
