Description

On today episodes, I break down the ins and outs of me transitioning from gym girl journey from just resistance training to now adding in some fun, flare and functionality to mimick the training of athletes. It has seriously shifted me physically as well as mentally!

Here's a list of what I recommended:

  1. Sprints!! I have added 10x 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off sprints at the end of my back day session.
  2. Adding in plyometrics (jumping exercises) e.g. box jumps, jump trap bar rdl’s, jump squats, burpees!
  3. Adding in throwing exercises to utilise POWER in your training e.g. ball slams, rope slams, throwing the medicine ball up onto the wall and catching it.
  4. Adding in functional fitness exercises: cleans, snatches, kettle bell swings, plate over head to ground.
  5. Adding a fast eccentric portion followed by a slow concentric portion.

For example:

- Barbell bench press: go slow on the way down and fast on the way up.

• Kneeling landmine barbell press: fast on the push up and slow on the way down

• Squats: slow on the way down and fast on the way up
