Due to scheduling conflicts, the August edition of the Cinematic Smorgasbord has been delay a week. So, we are back with another demo episode. In this demo, our hosts discuss remakes that didnt do justice to the original.

Remakes that failed the original:

1. Lord of the Flies (1963) - Directed by Peter Brook / Lord of the Flies (1990) - Directed by Harry Hook
2. The Philadelphia Story (1940) - Directed by George Cukor/High Society (1956) - Directed by Charles Walters
3. Scarface (1932) - Directed by Howar Hawkes/Scareface (1983) - Directed by Brian De Palma

Weekly Recommendations:

1. The Birdcage (1996) - Directed by Mike Nichols; an English-language remake of the 1978 Franco-Italian film La Cage aux Folles and the musical of the same name.
2. Evil Dead (2013) - Directed by Fede Alvarez;  a soft reboot/continuation of the original film series
3. A Fistful of Dollars (1964) - Directed by Sergio Leone; an unofficial remake of the Akira Kurosawa film Yojimbo (1961)
