Davis Smith is the Founder and CEO of Cotopaxi, an outdoor gear and active lifestyle brand with a social mission. Cotopaxi was the first company to incorporate from inception as a benefit corporation and subsequently raise venture capital. When Davis founded Cotopaxi in 2014 his dream was to find a way to sustainably alleviate poverty at scale, and to inspire others to join him in the movement.
He witnessed firsthand the glaring hardship that stems from unequal access to opportunity while growing up in Latin America. Davis believes that a for-profit business can be a driving force for good in the world, and there is more to business than making a profit.
