Marcus Freeman is one of the youngest up-and-coming head coaches in college football at the University of Notre Dame. He was born in Huber Heights, Ohio where he became a top high school football recruit. Marcus went on to start as a linebacker for Ohio State, helping lead the team to four Conference Titles. He then briefly played in the NFL before returning to Ohio State to earn a master's degree in sports management.
Marcus went on to become a linebackers coach at Kent State and Purdue, as well as the Defensive Coordinator at Cincinnati. Last year in 2021, after his first regular season as the Defensive Coordinator at Notre Dame, Marcus made history by becoming the first assistant coach since 1996 to be promoted as the head coach of the University of Notre Dame football team.
