Catechism Class - H/C LD7B Q21 "What is Faith?"

Q21: What is true faith? True faith is a sure knowledge whereby I accept as true all that God has revealed to us in his Word. At the same time it is a firm confidence  that not only to others, but also to me, God has granted forgiveness of sins, everlasting righteousness, and salvation, out of mere grace, only for the sake of Christ's merits. This faith the Holy Spirit works in my heart by the gospel

For this lesson you'll need your Bible opened at Ephesians 2, and Hebrews 11.

Faith is one of those words we use frequently - yet we find it difficult to define - but faith is the ‘bricks and mortar’ of our Christianity.  We need to talk about it and to try to grasp something of its meaning.  FAITH is a vital truth, for as our instructor remind us in Q20, “… only such as by true faith are ingrafted into Him and receive all his benefits… (are saved).  Thankfully we have the Scriptures to lay out the doctrine for us, and the Catechism to bring it all together in a concise way that we can understand it.
