Catechism Class - LD4 Q9-11, Excuses!

The catechist deals with man's sin and the reason for it, teaching us that the responsibility for our sin and our condemnation under the law is entirely our own doing, the result of our original sin and continuing disobedience against God.  Because He is JUST, he MUST punish crime and wrongdoing, and because He is JUST he will not demand that crime be punished twice, which is good news for those who have rested in Christ's atoning sacrifice for sinners.  But for those who are unforgiven sinners, please don't expect God's mercy and long-suffering, his love and mercy to prevail on judgment day.  God has already demonstrated his love for us at the cross.  If we reject THAT love, that suffering, dying love for sinners,  then when we stand before God with all our sinful works openly revealed, our condemnation will pronounced, and we will be forever lost.
