Kingdoms and The Kingdom

Nebuchadnezzar's Dream, Daniel 2 cf 1 Samuel 8

Before you listen to this sermon, please read 1st Samuel 8, and Daniel 2

Do you ever wonder why governments and rulers seem to be acting in their own interest, following their own agendas, rather than for the good of the people they govern?

In this sermon, preached at Ballymacashon, and Templepatrick Reformed Church - (the Recording was made at TRC, and is used with their permission) we look at two important texts, - to get an understanding of why governments/kings conscript people to do their bidding, tax them, take their possessions, and generally make life miserable for the ordinary people.n

Nebuchadnezzar, for example, is not a reasonable man. He asked the privy counsel to explain his dream, but he wouldn’t tell them what the dream was! The sages are stunned by this request, especially by the explicit threats that accompanied it. V5. And no matter how they tried to persuade him, the king wouldn’t tell them the dream, and they were unable to tell the despot what the dream was about. It’s stalemate. V10-11  An order went out, V13   Learning that you are about to be executed cannot be the most pleasant experience. Daniel went to see Nebuchadnezzar, and we learn the difference between kingdoms, and The Kingdom.
