The Value of Our Children - Born and UnbornInfant Abortion - the deliberate killing of a baby in the womb, - usually for little more than avoiding the inconvenience that caring for a child brings - is one of the most pressing ethical issues facing Christians today. The clamour for 'The right to choose,' the chorus of voices crying, 'My body - my choice' the liberal lobby groups demanding unrestricted sexual gratification at the cost of a precious yet defenceless life, with the mainstream media's loud support, have built up a seemingly unstoppable momentum towards a more bloodthirsty and ruthless society. Millions and millions of babies have been killed, ripped mercilessly from their mother's wombs, the place where they should be safe. Media campaigns have focussed on 'hard cases' - rape, serious foetal abnormality, etc., but these 'hard cases' always seem to pave the way for 'abortion on demand' - the killing of unborn babies in the womb as a form of contraception, for abortion to end the lives of babies with disablements, even cleft palettes, and for gender-selective culling. So, what does the Bible teach about the value of our children? We look at the attitude of Jesus to small human lives, make reference to other scriptures, and seek to ground our ethical responses in a Christian worldview. Please listen, and please pray for our modern society.
