Today we are joined by Sreeram Kannan, Founder of Eigenlayer.
EigenLayer is a layer2 protocol built on Ethereum which uses staked Eth2 as a bootstrapping mechanism for new dApps wanting to raise capital to build on top of Eigenlayer. For this, the protocol utilizes what they refer to as “restaking”.
Restaking is a mechanism by which existing Eth2 stakers opt in to provide additional services, for additional yield, while taking on additional risk. In essence, EigenLayer is trying to level the playing field so that new protocols don't have to bootstrap funds, and have the opportunity to access the liquidity in the Eth2 staking system.
