This week’s podcast includes Hall of Famer Danny Ainge spending time with us here in the studio. He lives by the mantra, “it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” He is also the only student-athlete in BYU history to play professional baseball in the summer, and be a star for Cougar basketball during the winter—and he did that for three years. He led BYU to the Sweet Sixteen in 1981 and was named National Basketball Player of the Year. He played 14 seasons in the NBA and has three world championships, two as a player and one as an executive. He is currently the CEO of the Utah Jazz and a proud member of the BYU Hall of Fame. His No. 22 jersey hangs in the rafters at the Marriott Center. It is a pleasure to welcome Danny Ainge to Y’s Guys.
Also on this week’s podcast... With BYU now in the Big 12, we’ve been wondering what that moment was like when the power five conference called BYU. Deputy Athletic Director Brian Santiago joins us tonight in studio. Brian won a state championship at Provo High School and played college basketball and baseball at Utah Valley and basketball at Fresno State. He finished the 1993-1994 season with the Fresno record in assists with 233 and he was second in the nation—hitting 50 percent of his three-point shots. In 2002 he was inducted into the Utah Valley Athletic Hall of Fame. He is the current Deputy Athletic Director at BYU. It is our pleasure to welcome Brian Santiago to Y’s Guys.
