From undercuts to braids, representations of Iron Age Nordic peoples have often emphasised hairstyles as being expressive of some kind of inherent wild-ness or authentic anti-civilisation about the 'Vikings'. With the Suebian man we have a preserved hair style from that era, and Dr Rasmussen discusses this find, and the possible symbolism literally entwined in the hair.
