Hello and welcome to this week's episode of our series 'Around the World'.
Join us as we travel to the capital of India, Delhi, where in 2012 a crime so horrific took place that the cries of the young women of India reverberated around the globe.
On Sunday 16th December 2012, a lovely young intern doctor, aged 23 called Jyoti Singh, who having completed her studies went to relax with a friend at the movies one Sunday afternoon. The film of choice was Life of Pi and having finished the film they made their way home using a public bus service.
It wasn't long before they were both victims of an extremely violent attack at the hands of the bus driver and his friends.
Once they had finished with the young couple, they threw them out of the moving bus, leaving them for dead.
However, even though Jyoti had suffered life threatening injuries, she was a fighter and helped the police find and convict her assailants.
Once news of this appalling attack reached the public, they took to the streets to demand justice for Jyoti and safety for Indian women.
