Description

Episode 15 is a minipod because life has bowled us over.  Fall is so very full and intense, and we know you know. Given our limited time, we wanted to encourage listeners to raise their voices in two important ways - to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and to exercise their right to vote in elections.

First, Laura encourages us to not look away, and Kori reminds us that empathy is like a muscle that we have to exercise.  Don’t harden your heart or lose hope, but call on your federal representatives to demand a ceasefire.  Also continue sharing on social media, integrate diverse voices on your feed, and check on your friends. We’re reminded that Bravo TV shows, namely The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, are good entertainment but not the best place to go for life advice (hehe).

And second, Tuesday, November 7 is Election Day in the U.S. and state and local races matter so very much.  These folks decide what’s legal/accessible in your state, your tax rates, what books are allowed on library shelves (!!!) and so much more. It’s hard to find good information about local candidates, so go to those impacted and for trusted voices in your community.  For example, which school board candidates have endorsements of educators? Which are funded by political action committees and out-of-state money? Think critically and make choices that support expanded freedom - particularly for the vulnerable.  And these races are decided by NARROW margins!  As Snap sings, you’ve “Got the Powah!”
