In this second episode spotlighting the nominees for International Optician of the Year 2025, Nick Coffer introduces three extraordinary professionals who each bring passion, innovation, and humanity to the optical world.
- Charlie Saccarelli – Chadwick Optical (USA)
- Charlie has spent over a decade transforming Chadwick Optical into a world-class lab blending engineering ingenuity, R&D, and heartfelt commitment to patients often left behind by traditional systems. Known for pioneering solutions in low vision and neuro-optometry, Charlie shares his philosophy of balancing compassion with creativity – and his drive to remind us that behind every pair of glasses is a human being.
- Kim Jurina – Eye Stylist (Canada)
- A second-generation optician, Kim has reimagined how eyewear can be delivered. Through her boutique mobile service, Eye Stylist, she brings carefully curated collections directly to clients’ homes. Drawing on 30 years in the industry, she combines fashion sense, technical knowledge, and a personal touch to create bespoke experiences – and inspires fellow opticians to think outside the four walls of traditional practice.
- Bill Snelgrove – Kawartha Vision Care (Canada)
- As co-founder of Kawartha Vision Care, Bill has combined technical expertise with a deep social conscience. From dispensing and repairs to scleral lenses that change lives, his commitment is to ensure no patient “falls through the cracks.” Alongside running multiple practices, Bill serves as President of the Ontario Opticians Association, championing the profession and volunteering his time to strengthen the industry.
Together, these finalists showcase the diversity, creativity, and dedication of opticians worldwide. Their stories underline a shared truth: opticians make a visible difference, every single day.
